Contract cancellation Vodacom
My contract ended on 31 January 2022 but I did previously experienced that Vodacom do not stop deducting the contract amount from your bank account if you cancel the contract. I went to a Vodacom shop in Cape town and they gave me number to call to cancel the contract, because it can't be done in the retail stores. I called on 2 January 2022 to cancel the contract and spoke to a person which confirmed to me that the contract will be cancelled. She also said that I will receive an SMS or email to confirm the cancellation. I waited a few days and called again because I have not received an SMS or email No, the contract was not cancelled. I went through all the stages and steps again to get the contract cancelled and was told the same story again (that I will receive an SMS or email) Guess what? I never received it!!! End of January 2022 came and the contract amount was deducted. Beginning of February 2022 I called in again to get conformation that the contract was cancelled and guess what!!!?? NO, THE CONTRACT WAS NOT CANCELLED. Again I called the cancellation department to cancel the contract and after using extremely strong language I received a confirmation letter that my contract was now cancelled BUT only from the end of February 2022 and I will be held liable for any outstanding amounts. Last week a guy called me to ask me why I cancelled the contract. I went through everything with him explaining that I'm done with Vodacom contracts. After a heated debate he dropped the line on me but I was actually happy that somebody else feels my frustration. Guess what nr 3?! Today, 10 February 2022 I received another call from a guy from Vodacom wanting to know why I cancelled my contract because he said he can see on his system that another amount will be deducted from bank account because the contract only ended on 3 February 2022. From my point of view, this is poor service delivery from Vodacom call centres to milk another month's contract fee from the customer but also the inability of retail outlets to be able to cancel a contract that is due to expire. At last I had my contract cancelled and any new phones will be paid in cash, on the Pay-as-you-go system.
