Contract Cancellation and Abuse from Vodacom
Subject: Contract Cancellation and Abuse from Vodacom
Hello Peter,
On 3rd November 2023, I terminated my contract with Vodacom. However, I have been consistently receiving emails from Vodacom Subscriber Collections falsely claiming that I still owe outstanding amounts. When I contacted customer service, I was informed that my account had overdue payments and could only be closed once the balance was settled. I immediately paid the balance and requested the closure of the account. Despite this, Vodacom continued to send emails with new amounts owed.
On 7th February 2024 at 10H47 a.m., a Vodacom call centre agent named Stephen Lucin assured me that he would close my account and provided me with the reference number ***. However, I still continued to receive emails from Vodacom Subscriber Collections stating that I owe them money.
Despite my immediate action and payment of the balance, I was disappointed to learn that my account was not closed. When I called on another day, the call centre agent informed me that the contract would expire at the end of February 2024. I was told that the contract had been cancelled and my number had been converted into a pre-paid account.
On 14th May 2024 at 10:09 AM, Vodacom Subscriber Collections sent a final letter of demand and gave me 21 days to settle the new outstanding amount.
This ongoing issue with Vodacom has caused me a lot of distress and has even affected my bond application. I hope to receive assistance in dealing with this matter and to prevent others from being taken advantage of by Vodacom.
