Contract Cancellation

I have tried to cancel a data contract since January.

The first time I phoned the cancellation department, you enter a few details and receive a SMS then dead silence on the call, where I assumed that, that is it and I can hang up, they will get back to me as stated in the SMS.

A month went by and still didn't receive anything. I again phoned the cancellation number and received the SMS, but this time I didn't put the call down. I held on and reached a consultant, just to be cut off after saying Hello.

I again phoned back and eventually could speak to a consultant which processed the request and gave me a reference number. This was on the 28th of February, I have yet to receive any further communication from Vodacom and I am still being billed for this contract.

I feel the cancellation process is purposely made difficult and painful, you can't even get help in store, you just get pointed to phoning the "wonderful" cancellation call centre.

I wonder how many more times I am going to be billed before Vodacom actually cancels the contract and refunds me, or are you holding out to pay the “please call me dude”?
