Consumer Rights Violated Once Again! Ref ***

I refer to my longreview of 18th May 2017 entitled "Data ***** - Consumer Rights" and note that Vodacom has violated my rights once again! This also concerns a data contract.

Having cancelled all but one of my contracts with Vodacom, I phoned the cancellations department at Vodacom this morning to cancel my final remaining data contract (071 ********** ) only to be told that it had been renewed on 27th June 2017 by M. Ngwenya of a Vodacom Agency called WNS. This was done without any reference to me or contact with me. I had previously specifically checked that this contract had expired and was being conducted on a month to month basis.

Having just paid some sixteen thousand rand for data on a disused, dormant data account because I could not prove that I had not used the data, you can imagine my fury over this.

Once again, I have to go through the customer service system whose agents are well trained, charming and helpful but have no authority whatever. Once again, I cannot speak to a decision-maker.

Once again, I am locked into a 24 month contract at R110 per month, which I don't want and won't use, leaving me open again to ***** on a dormant account.

Reviewer Update

My warmest thanks to a charming young man called Renzo, who called me this morning, apologised for the inconvenience and reversed the unauthorised contract renewal. To him I would give a five star rating!

Unfortunately, Vodacom as a whole is not a company with which I will ever again do business, hence the four star rating. I don't want to have to fight for my rights as a consumer when they are already entrenced in law and should not be violated by powerful companies like Vodacom.
