Consumer rights means nothing

Hi. My dad cliffy sriragavaloo has many contracts at vodacom and has been a client for many years. He had two data contracts available for upgrade this month august 2016 of which one of them he cancelled and one choose to get a new phone on contract. He walk into vodashop clearwater mall on the 18 of august 2016 and a gentleman by the name of Jorge assisted him. My dad asked Jorge for either an iphone 6s or a blackberry priv since it was going on promotion at reasonable prices. Jorge being a salesman a good one , convinced him and forced him that the LG K10 is better than any other phone in the store. Of which i cant understand because he is a salesman and i assume the more expensive an item the better the commision, i stand to be corrected. My dad didnt have his ID and proof of residence on him, the consultant then said no take the LG K10 and sign and he can bring his ID and proof of residence the following day. Obviously my dad agreed as he hardly has time on his hands. The follwing day my dad called me his son and said he cant use the LG as it is difficult for him as he was an iphone user and blackberry before. He asked me to please call vodacom clearwater and ask if we can please return the phone on the 19 august 2016 for either the iphone 6s or the blackberry priv. I spoke to ali (apparently) the manager. He said no can do , we can only return phones under technical faulta. I mean it a day old. He was also very rude and laughed whem i said my dad is a bit old. My dad also spoke to Jorge and he said no can do , it is what is after leaving 4 messages for Jorge to call him back about 4 hours later. What are our rights when it comes to product dissatisfaction. We are very disappointed at such. And will never refer anyone to that store.
