Conned into a 2 year data contract

Vodacom called me and said I was using more data on my phone than the current data plan.

They said buying a new 2GB (@ R129/mo) bundle rather than the current 500MB bundle (@R99/mo) would save me money. I agreed and they then added at the end of the conversation that I also get a free wifi modem. They recommended I cancel the 500MB bundle. After doing so and a few months later when my cellphone was due for an upgrade I found out that the new data bundle was not used by my phone at all but rather a separate solution all together. After speaking/emailing ********** they found that as near the end of the conversation I asked whether it was a separate contract and they confirmed they deemed this enough to not cancel the new contract. I asked this purely as I didn't want my current contract, nearing its end, to continue for another 2 years.

Note the sales person called ME to sell me a solution to save me money. This is not what I got. It now costs me extra each month for no benefit to myself.

If the sales person had led by asking whether I wanted a wifi modem that I could create a wifi hot spot with and connect many devices I would have said NO straight away. The ONLY way this solution would work given the specific way the solution was sold to me is if I had to carry a wifi modem around with me permanently that my phone connected to. The way it was sold was that it was a bolt on package to my existing phone AND i get a free modem.

I simply want to cancel a contract that I do not use and cannot use in the way it was sold to me.

What do I do now....
