Confused and *********** Vodacom
On 18 May 2019 I signed a contract with Vodacom to provide fibre internet (uncapped 20 mbps line) to my home (sales consultant Janine). They confirmed that fibre was active in my area. On 19 May I received confirmation via email that a request for connection was registered and I received a SO number to this effect, as well as confirmation that it will take a maximum of 21 days for installation and activation. On 28 May a router was delivered via courier to my address. On 12 June I phoned the call centre to enquire wrt progress, because after more than 21 days there had been no action from them. Musa at the call centre informed me that unfortunately no request for installation had yet been logged for my SO nr and apologised profusely for their oversight. He proceeded to log a request and undertook to send a mail to prioritise this request. On 25 June, after nothing has happened, I phoned the call centre again. Vuyo informed me that unfortunately fibre was not available in my area. I queried this, as both Janine (sales consultant) and Musa (call centre) have confirmed that there was coverage. After being put on hold for 30 minutes, Faizel (call centre manager/supervisor) came on the line to inform me that his system shows that fibre is available in my area, but that his maps indicate that it is not. He undertook to investigate and call me back. After an hour, Fancy (presumably from the call centre) called me to inform me that although fibre is active in my area, it is not yet available at my address. This after Vodacom has repeatedly checked availability at my address and confirmed that it was active there. I requested Fancy to cancel my contract with immediate effect and send me confirmation of such. I then phone Janine (the original sales consultant) and told her as well to cancel my contract and send me confirmation. She was very surprised to hear of the reason for cancellation as she confirmed again that fibre was indeed available at my address. The service received from Vodacom was simply atrocious and I will not do business with them again. They sold me a service under false pretenses, they continuously contradict each other and they provide no feedback on the progress (or complete lack thereof) of their work. Vodacom is pathetic.
