Claiming debt from a cancelled Nashua mobile account

I received a phone call from Linda who called me from a firm called Jacobs Burnard Associates who requested that I provide them with my brother's contact details - firstly it is frightening that she claimed that she got my details because I have the same surname as my brother.

Secondly, the reason they called was to claim that my brother has been blacklisted because of a Vodacom account. I was aware that my brother cancelled and paid up his contract as he was leaving to pursue his career overseas. I spoke to my brother and got him to contact them on this matter where they conveniently changed their tune and said it was a Nashua Mobile account. I am aware that Vodacom is buying out Nashua mobile, however this sad attempt for old customers to pay up for a failed business is ********* and poor form on Vodacom's side - I say this as Linda said "VODACOM".

With my brother having worked at dimension data, note that at that time, well over 4 years ago, they used Nashua Mobile. He cancelled the account via a form and had no more obligations to Nashua Mobile and no one contacted him either. 2 years after him cancelling, he receives a phone call, to which my brother explains the same story that he had cancelled it and sent all the details. Now, another 2 years later they contacting me to get hold of my brother for this same issue????

I am not sure if you are aware of the deep water you may find yourselves in with this case, because prescribed debt is highly ******* - please fami****ise yourself with the legalities: http://www.fin24.com/Debt/News/everything-you-need-to-know-about-prescribed-debt- ********** 9.

Noting on the above article:

• My brother resides overseas

• You are not allowed to take legal action on prescribed debt

• No communication, let alone backup statements were provided.

Please may I ask that somebody contact me on this matter as this is highly unacceptable and the time and money wasted on this, you could have funded the failed company instead of attempting to create dodgey opportunities to received funds via small firms.

Other cases similar to this (there are loads, but I have just included 3):

• https://hellopeter.com/saya-recoveries/reviews/fly-by-night-debt-collector-harrassing-me- **********

• https://hellopeter.com/norman-bissett-associates-group/complaints/nba-nashua-mobile-account-handed-over-for-collecti- **********

• https://hellopeter.com/saya-recoveries/reviews/prescribed-nashua-mobile-account-being-claimed- **********

Nashua Mobile's article: "Nashua Mobile to dispose of its MTN and Vodacom subscriber bases" - This headline on the below article... They didn't specify the "dispose"????
http://www.bdlive.co.za/business/technology/2014/04/14/nashua-mobile-to-dispose-of-its-mtn-and-vodacom-subscriber-bases
