CHECK YOUR DATA ON YOUR VODACOM CONTRACTS
This morning I received a telephone call (the call) from Vodacom. The gentleman informed me that my package in respect of the recent upgrade included only 1 Gb of data. That is NOT what was agreed.
The agreement provided for 6 Gb of any time data, i.e. 1 Gb plus 5 Gb promotional data for 24 months.
If I had not received the call, I would not have been aware of Vodacom's material breach of the agreement.
Shortly after the call, I phoned Vodacom. The lady with whom I spoke confirmed that the agreement included 6 Gb of data but only 1 Gb was activated. She undertook to activate the promotional 5 Gb. I do not know if this has been done.
At the same time that I upgraded my phone, I upgraded an iPhone. My daughter uses that phone. That agreement also included 6 Gb of any time data (1 Gb plus 5 Gb promotional data for 24 months).
In April, my daughter ran out of data and had to purchase additional data. Neither she nor I understood how this could happen as she uses wifi at home and at the school where she teaches.
I called Vodacom today (separate to the call mentioned above). The gentleman informed me that the promotional 5 Gb on the iPhone package had not been activated. Thus, my daughter only had 1 Gb of data. He said he would activate the promotional 5 Gb data. I do not know if this has been done.
What emerges is a pattern: one in which the promotional data is not activated despite valid and binding agreements. Has this happened to you? It would be wise to check.
Vodacom's conduct is shameful.
I have requested an undertaking that the promotional 5 Gb of data in respect of both phones be activated and that it will not revert to 1 Gb during the duration of the agreements. I await Vodacom's reply.
