Charging VAT on Items VAT has already being paid
This is more a warning to all Vodacom customers who have the Apple iTunes linked to their Vodacom account. Apple always includes VAT in the amounts that they charge you, obviously because it’s a formal invoice. Then it gets added to your Vodacom account, and Vodacom then charge you VAT on the already VAT inclusive amount. Soo, you are paying double VAT. Vodacom’s resolution to this, is you go to your Apple account and request a refund. What exactly do we request a refund on? You cant request a refund on VAT that legally needs to be paid? Why are Vodacom charging VAT on these items, knowing that the amounts already include VAT? Is Vodacom Billing system so aged that it cant list these items apart from the VATable amounts? How much money has Vodacom pocketed from their clients this way? I have only just picked this up, but its been happening for more than a year. Go check you invoices!!
