Charged for caller ID - Vodacom
VodaCom charges to see incoming calls I noticed that all incoming calls on my cellphone showed unknown, even the contacts that is listed on my contact list. I checked with the the phone brand for support and was informed the problem is with my service provider. I phoned VodaCom customer care (111). I was informed that in order to see who is phoning me I must pay a further R9.50 per month (excluding the contract fee) extra for this service. I feel cheated by this as i do not understand why i must pay to see who is phoning me. The consultant of VodaCom also do not know why. When did it start that the customer must pay to see incoming calls?. VodaCom I think it is ******** by blocking information which concerns the consumer. I had to activate the service but I am really not happy with this. I cannot recall that it was stated as such in the contract nor did my previous service provider have this. The Consumer Protection Act,2008 (Act 68 of 2008) states the following [Suppliers are required to display the prices of goods and services, in full view of consumers & Consumers have the right to request the unit cost of goods and services, so as to avoid any 'hidden' costs]. VodaCom you with held this extra costs. I have not noticed any other service provider doing this. It's ridiculous.
