Changing to MTN
I decided to cancel my contract with vodacom, and move to MTN. I phoned 082 111, which is vodacoms' customer care hotline, and got a quote for the remaining balance. I paid the balance at a vodacom store and was instructed by the call centre operative to email in proof of payment and fill out the required documents. I was also instructed to finish all my minutes, data and sms's as the number would be on prepaid in 48 hours which would allow me to port to another network. At the end of the 48 hours when I had followed all the instructions given to me by a vodacom representative, my number was still not prepaid. I then phoned 082 111 and was told that the number will only be made prepaid at the beginning of the next month. At the beginning of the following month I contacted vodacom again, as I had been allocated minutes, data and sms's after cancelling the contract, and was informed that the quotation I had used to cancel my contract had expired and that in order for them to cancel my contract, they had to generate a new quotation after which it will take 24 hours for my number to go on prepaid. I phoned vodacom 24 hours later as my number was still not prepaid and was told that the previous vodacom representative did not perform any of the required actions to cancel the contract. I was told that they would generate a new quotation to cancel the contract and it would take 72 hours to cancel. Whilst all of this was taking place for 2 weeks, vodacom has denied multiple port requests even though the contract has been paid fully. I will now be forced to get a new number as I have been without a phone for 2 weeks.
