Challenges with Vodacom billing

On Tuesday 06 June 2016, around 13:30 I noticed that my cellphone
data was depleted. I then checked my account on My Vodacom app and
found it to be way over the monthly limit. It went to R3300.00,
instead of my monthly limit of R1700.00.

I checked my cellphone data usage and found that most of the data was
used by Hotspot. Yes I did connect my laptop to the phone's mobile
Hotspot but the amount of data used and the consequent bill could not
justify the time and purpose I connected my laptop for.

I went to Vodacom Menlyn to get clarity on what finished my data so
fast. To my disappointment, I could not be helped. I was instead,
advised to activate Itemised billing so I can see what exactly
happened.

I activated Itemised billing and to my worst frustration and after I
activated Itemised billing I realised that I could not see activities for
the date in question. I called Vodacom and was told that Itemised
billing cannot go back to the date I lost so much data and that
Itemised billing starts from the time I activated it.

My concern is why Vodacom cannot explain what finished my data that
fast, also what guarantee is there that it wont happen again as on the
same day of reporting the matter, my bill increased by R450.00 even
though I resolved to load 1GB of data.

I'm scared of what is happening on my account. Strangely the people
who are running the service cannot tell what is happening.
