Cellular ******* at it's best !

Cellular ******* at it's best ! For over ! 25 ! years I was a Vodacom client - initially on a contract but since I spent a couple of months each year overseas it was changed to a prepaid SIM card. The SIM card was always active and working while I was overseas. Last week I got back after 5 months being stuck overseas due to Corona and when I switched on my phone it said 'NO SERVICE'. When I enquired with Vodacom they told me that my prepaid service had been cancelled - all credit gone - and apparently my number was given to someone else in the meantime. I tried to call my old number in vain to see if I could get it back - but nobody answered the phone - it always went onto voicemail. I find it unacceptable that a client of over 25 years is not informed about the apparent cancellation of her number - especially during strained Corona times such as we had for the last couple of months ! - the credit is simply forfeited - and the customer care refuses to reinstate the number - cellular ******* at it's best !

Vodacom's PRIVATE reply: 30 Oct 2020, 14:06

Dear Customer, Kindly be advised that as per our T&C's regarding prepaid inactivity rule. If a prepaid number is inactive for 120 days, the number will become inactive and then deleted Regards Consumer Website Team

MY reply:
Looking at the 'private reply' from Vodacom - see above - if a number has been used by a client for over ! 25 ! years ! it obviously is a long standing and loyal customer and deserves more than just being simply cut off after 120 days inactivity - by the way being caused by being stuck overseas due to Corona ! - without any prior notification or warning !

What kind of a service mentality is this ... ??

Even after one month further - no reply by Vodacom - neither in writing nor by phone.
When companies get too big and complacent it is high time to take one's business somewhere else ... thank God we have some good alternatives in SA !
