Cellphone giant bleeds me dry

Exactly 5 months ago on this date ( late December 2015) I ported my mobile number from Vodacom on a contract buyout to Cell C. I had been with Vodacom on a post paid contract for about 18 years until I could no longer cope with their billing, which for most of 2015 would average between R5000 and R9000 in spite of being on the unlimited Red VIP fixed contract for R1999 per month. Every time I enquired about the exhorbitant billing I used to be told that it was for out of bundle data that was charged while my allowance of monthly data often remained unused. The store consultants in Vodacom Fourways could not help as they said repeatedly it was incorrect billing and would be escalated to head office for a refund, which was never resolved.

Eventually in December 2015 I ported my number and requested premature cancellation, then moved to cell C which I have been using and paying since. Despite submitting all cancellation documents and paying in the contract buyout voucher amount of R10000 from cell C my contract was never cancelled and I continued to be billed and debited in excess of R5000 every month to date, over and above the debit order I pay on my cell C contract.

On the 18th of March 2016 I was on a conference call with the Vodacom Fourways consultant and a person from Vodacom head office cancellations Dept for at least an hour. No solution came out of this and I was told I would be called within 3 working days with feedback. On that day I found out that the R10000 voucher amount from cell C had been consumed into the exhorbitant monthly billing of Vodacom instead of being channeled towards my contract buyout so I still had to settle in full for premature cancellation. The feedback never came so on the 20th of every month I still get debited these figures and the store consultants cannot help me as they say they can only log a service request on my behalf to cancellations department and retentions department, who are not allowed telephone calls from clients apparently. They said those are the people who would effect the cancellation and refund all monies debited after the cancellation was requested by me in December.

On Tuesday 24 may 2016, I was referred from Fourways to customer service centre in Vodaworld, Midrand, where the consultant expressed shock and logged yet another service request promising that this time I would get a call from the faceless retentions Dept within 24 hours, which never came.

Needless to say this has caused untold financial distress as I am paying two unlimited contracts while using one and no one in Vodacom seems willing or able to assist. I have missed many hours and days off work going up and down trying to get this resolved. There appears to be no end in sight to this nightmare and I have become desperate for a solution.

Please help!
