Cellphone contract

I received a telephonic call two weeks ago from a saleslady from Mondo, on behalf of Vodacom, offering me a cellphone contract. I accepted this offer, as I have dealt with Vodacom in the past, without complaints.

Last Friday, I received the cellphone parcel containing the handset together with simcards etc. via courier.

I have been unable to activate this phone, in spite of making at least eleven calls to the Vodacom customer care call centre. Whilst waiting for the operator, I was kept on hold for hours on end, listening to music. In spite of numerous promises that my device would be activated, I am still unable to use the phone as it is still inactive.

I even tried taking the handset in to the local Herm**** branch of Vodacom, where the saleslady assured me that there was nothing she could do, as the contract had not been purchased from that store. I am a desperate older citizen, having nowhere to turn for advice or assistance.

I sincerely wish that I had never accepted this offer and would not advise anyone to do so, as the level of after-sale service is non-existent. I feel very disappointed and aggrieved that I have been duped by call centre salespersons
