CELL PHONE CONTRACT PRICE MEANS NOTHING
So, when you sign up for a two year cell phone contract advertised at R299 per month for 24mo - DO NOT BE FOOLED! Vodacom's contracts allow them to change this price whenever and to whatever they want! This happened to me two months into my contract. Imagine my surprise. No one tells you this when you sign the contract and the little asterisk that says ts & cs apply is meaningless as there are probably 100 of them. When I queried this with the call centre, their response was \5.8. The charges levied by Vodacom may vary from time to time and Vodacom shall provide you with at least 20 (twenty) business days notice of such variations before they take effect. You shall be bound to pay such varied charges with effect from the date of publication thereof by either Vodacom and/or Vodacom unless you exercise your right of termination as provided for in this Agreement). This has been updated on the Vodacom website. We understand your frustration however the feedback remains unchanged."Nice crowd. I'm not a lawyer but surely there must be something in the Consumer Protection Act that can stop this? The contract gives them all the power and you no rights whatsoever. Consumers beware!!"""
As discussed telephonically, the terms and conditions of your contract do provide for a tariff increase.
Kindly feel free to contact us should you have any future questions.
