Cell number changed from prepaid to contract.

I Logged into My Vodacom this morning to check balances, etc. (I have not done this in a while).

When I looked at my account summary I found the following:

My account has been changed from prepaid to a R55/m uChoose contract. I did not apply for nor authorise this change. In addition to this when I pull a statement on my account it shows I owe Vodacom R1,051,894.28 - this on a prepaid account. I also had two mobile services loaded on my profile running at R5 and R7 per day respectively.

I tried phoning Vodacom on various occasions and only managed to get through once. After explaining my situation to the call center agent I was put on hold and promptly disconnected.

I have no idea how long this has been going on in my account. I read on the internet that many others have had the same thing happen to them where they have been loaded onto a contract after replying to some SMS **** but if this is the case surely Vodacom should protect their subscribers and assist them in getting these contracts cancelled?

At this point I don't even know if I fell victim to such a **** or if it is an administration glitch on Vodacom's part. I just have the feeling that this is going to be be one of those ever lasting up and down fights that will not end until I throw my SIM card in the bin and lose the number I have had for the last 15 odd years.

So I get a phone call from Vodacom's Media centre (or something like that) on the morning of 13 July 2016. They explain to me that I now have a contract with a company called RMCS (I think this is right) and that I need to phone them as this has nothing to do with Vodacom.

I asked them how this is possible as I have not app**** for any contracts anywhere. They kept on asking me if I had any clothing accounts as this could be where the contract was taken out. I explained to them that I have never in my life had a clothing account at any store and I have definately not app**** for a contract anywhere.

My compalint was dismissed by the Vodacom representative and merrily referred to this other company. How is this not Vodacom's problem. I have a SIM card on prepaid with them and someone else registers my SIM on contract with them - explain to me how they can wash their hands on this and am I the only one sitting in this predicament?
