Can’t get an iPhone because I’m not an existing customer

I’m honestly so disappointed with vodacom. I have had a contract with mtn for the past 10 years, but u recently moved to Howick and bought a house but because of the load shedding etc the vodacom signal was better, so I ported my number to vodacom and have been on prepaid for the past year or so (I have the iPhone XR and because it was still in perfect condition) did not see the need to upgrade. Now that my iPhone XR is starting to slow down I app**** to get a contract for the iPhone 11 (R699 p/m) I was told that because I’m not an existing vodacom contract user I cannot get the iPhone. This is absolutely unacceptable and ridiculous to say the least. How do you expect to get new customers if you cannot give contracts to new users. Even though I earn enough to afford the R699 p/m. I’m really disappointed in vodacom. How do you expect to get new customers? R699 per month is not even a lot of money. I will now be going back to mtn.

I spoke to a consultant last week when I app**** for the contract. I was told there’s nothing that can be done unless I don’t get an iPhone. My husband also app**** for the same contract (he earns R55 000 + per month and was told the same thing). If you can’t give a R699 iPhone contract to a husband and wife that are taking R75 000 + per month with both our salaries combined. It’s honestly a joke. If you don’t want new customers, keep these ridiculous policies in place.
