Cannot buy ad hoc data in last month of contract?

This is the last month of my mobile contract, and, as requested, I have given 30 days notice to convert to prepaid, as I wish to change my service provider. Yesterday, I received an SMS to say that my data had run out, and I went through the process of trying to buy additional data via my phone, but I have not received any notifications that the data has been loaded. At the same time my out of bundle spend is creeping up. When I called the call centre this morning, I ws advised that I cannot add ad hoc data the month before my contract converts to prepaid. So for the rest of this month, I am paying for data at out of bundle rates. Seems like a good last chance to make as much money as possible. If I hadn't already decided to move to another service provider, this would have been the last straw. What a despicable practice. Thanks for nothing, Vodacom.
