Cancelling Vodacom Interm fibre has been a headache.
I called to cancel the interim fibre connection mid-August. the lady on the line logs a ticket for cancellation. I asked her, will there would be a last payment she said no. You don't have to pay to cancel the interim and it needs no notice. I said okay cool.
The 31st comes around. I see the Vodacom debit go off. (I got paid late so no money was debited.) On Saturday the 1st I physically go into the store to ask them if should I pay or shouldn't pay. The lady at the counter says they see R0,00 there's no bill to pay. So I think, "That's strange but why did a debit go off?" I can't pay for something they can't see😓 so I wait for Monday. I called and told you that I got transferred to a different department for every single question. EVERY SINGLE QUESTION. And amid the transfers, I found out that I was not entirely cancelled from this fibre situation. Apparently, I only cancelled the Interm, not the "fibre fibre" So I cancelled that too. I also found out there's a 30-day notice period for interim cancellation so I had to pay.
Oh, and one of the agents told me that I don't get billed for what I don't use so I should unplug. So I did that. A bill of R1285 arrived via email. I recently paid R700 for August because I incurred penalty fees. I'm also going to pay for September. The end of September will be my last payment. and I will be calling them after that payment to make sure I get a clear letter of cancellation for ALL THE ABOVE.
But enough complaining here's what you should be aware of when cancelling the interim LTE fibre because the people in the call centre will not tell you unless you ask.
1) When you cancel the Interm LTE do not assume that the fibre is also cancelled. Be specific say you'd like to cancel the interim AND fibre connection. 2) There is a 30-day notice period for cancellation. If you unplug you still have to pay. 3) For every question you will be transferred prepare for that. Take a chill pill before you call because high chance of annoyance. 4) Some of the call centre agents don't know what they doing so please bear with the poor souls.
Will update you at the end of September when I get my letter.
