Cancelling Vodacom contract is a nightmare!
I have had a cellphone contract with Vodacom which I took out 2 years ago and it was due to end Jan 2021. I called their customer service call centre in December 2020 to cancel the contract and was told I need to call anytime in January 2021 as the cancellation can only be processed on the same month that the contract is to due to end. I then called on 2 Jan 2021 and was told the cancellation has been put through. To my surprise I received airtime that I would normally receive from the service provider on a monthly basis as per the cellphone contact as well as a bill for the month of February. Upon calling the call centre again on 2 February 2021 to query this I was told that it was escalated when I had called last month but the contract is still not cancelled. I was told I would be contacted the same day and provided with feedback and a reversal later that but nothing occurred.
I called in again on 4 February and requested the agent to transfer me to their superior. I then spoke to the supervisor Maria who advised that she does not know the cancellation was not processed in January and she will do it on her side - they will return the airtime and clear the bill I had as I do not owe them anything.
To my surprise again, on 26 February 2021 I was debited by Vodacom. I have been since calling them and being put on hold only for the call to be dropped and transferred from department to department.
