Cancelled in November, Still Being Billed — Absolutely Unacceptable

I placed an order for a 5G router and PS5 through Vodacom’s online sales department. I received both devices on the 17th, used them for a few days, and immediately realised the signal in my area was terrible. On 20 November, I logged a cancellation and return request for BOTH devices — well within the cooling-off period. I even purchased a fibre router and PS5 from Vodacom again, assuming the first deal was properly cancelled.

Clearly, I was wrong.

On 26 November, I called to follow up because I was told I’m not allowed to drop the device off. Only then was I informed that nothing had been logged at all. The agent claimed to “log it again.”

On 1 December, I called again, only to be told yet again that the cancellation was NOT logged. Another agent then promised to “request call recordings, investigate, and resubmit the cancellation.”

On 4 December, I called AGAIN — and guess what? Still NO NOTES, NO CANCELLATION, NO RETURN logged. Absolutely nothing. I had to sit and listen to yet another empty promise that it would “now be processed.”

Then the final insult: on Saturday, I receive my December invoice — and it STILL includes charges for the router and PS5 I cancelled in NOVEMBER.

This is beyond incompetence — it’s outright negligence. The sales team and after-sales support are completely useless.

Vodacom insists this is an “online-only” deal, yet their online department is clearly incapable of doing the bare minimum: logging a simple cancellation request. If this had been handled in a physical store, this entire mess could have been avoided.

I am NOT paying for devices I cancelled well within the cooling-off period. Vodacom created this problem through repeated failure, and I refuse to be billed for their mistakes.

Enough is enough.

UPDATE – STILL NOT RESOLVED
Vodacom has still not resolved this matter and I have now been billed AGAIN in January for a contract I cancelled in NOVEMBER. The devices were returned and collected, yet Vodacom continues to bill me as if the contract is active.
This is unacceptable. I have now escalated this to the Vodacom CEO’s office, ICASA, and the National Consumer Commission for investigation. Vodacom has repeatedly failed to log my cancellation properly and continues to bill ********ly.
I expect immediate action, full billing reversal for December and January, confirmation of contract cancellation, and written confirmation that no negative credit impact will occur.
