Cancelled Cellphone Contract Calamity - VOMITCOM

On 20 April 2017 I requested that a Vodacom account be terminated at the end of its expiry date, which was in June 2017. I was immediately emailed a letter of cancellation from the call centre agent, and was assured that everything would go according to plan.

This account was linked to a very basic tablet that I endured for 2 years, but as it was mostly not functioning, I had started to use an iPhone during that time, linked to another account.

In August 2017, I was notified of an outstanding amount of nearly R5,000.00 linked to this account - which to my mind had been cancelled. When I finally managed to speak to a representative of VSP Legal, I was informed that my account had been hacked by another number, which she provided me with. I was asked to go to SAPS for an affidavit, and emailed all the required documentation to **********

I was promised that the matter would be looked into within 2 weeks, thus early September. I emailed them again on 7 September, 13 October, 20 October, 27 October, and all the while received phonecalls from a computerised machine telling me to pay my outstanding bill.

Since I had no Vodacom account anymore at this time, it was impossible to get through to their call centre - one is required to enter the Vodacom number one requires assistance with.

On 17 December, whilst on holiday, I was notified that roughly two thirds of the amount was credited to the account. I immediately responded to ask what happened to the remaining amount, and why I was unable to get in touch with anyone at Vodacom to discuss the matter.

I received no response, and emailed them again on 11 January and 30 January, as the phone calls had resumed again.

Today, 16 February, I received an email to say that my account has temporarily been converted to a Top Up Collections price plan, since the account is in arrears. Fortunately for Vodacom, there is no person to contact directly, nor a way to reach their call centre. If anyone knows how to get into contact with Linda Morgan at the Subscriber Collections Department, please let me know.
