Cancelled and paid off contract - Still charging me

I cancelled my Vodacom contract due to immigration and paid off the account with any extra charges as the contract had not come to term yet. Once paid off, I even contacted Vodacom to confirm that they received all payments and that no monies was owing and that there would be no issues. they confirmed all was in order. I did warn them that the account that they normally debit would be closed and that they need to make sure that the contract has been cancelled and moved to prepaid - which they confirmed over the phone.

I have now received a statement from Vodacom stating that I owe for the month of March even though I have paid off the contract. I contacted the 24H service department and the lady told me to phone back at 8 in the morning. I tried to explain to her that Vodacom needs to contact me as I have moved countries and that it costs a fortune to call. She said no they can not call me and she wont pass on the information as she leaves to go home before then. I asked for an email address to clarify this unbeleivable situation and she said they don't use email and that I had to call them. What absolute nonsense is this - I am here trying to do the right thing by making sure all my accounts are up to date and yet they are not willing to help me.

I have been will Vodacom for 15 years and regret every moment. I wonder if I will get a response or is legal action my only way forward.

Lost all faith in Vodacom.
