Cancellations Dept Making Up Deals to Retain Customers

I originally phoned cancellations to cancel my contract but was convinced by the agent to stay on due to having an original 072 Vodacom number. The agent(Modibe Maponya) indicated that 082 and 072 numbers were original numbers and get 70% off discounts on data and minutes month to month contracts for life. He offered me a deal and said it would take effect March.

March came and nothing. I then contacted both upgrades and cancellations, and was met with a number of excuses such as it being a cancellations issue or that they were not using the old system, but the gist of it was that no one could confirm the offering or find any evidence of the upgrade even though the call was recorded. I eventually spoke to someone in cancellations (Bongani Thango) who was willing to offer more assistance than the rest. He said he found Modibe but his system access was not working and could not check for me. Bongani then said he can offer me a 24 month deal with 10GB data and 250minutes at R170 a month. I requested he emailed the quote, which he did. I signed the quote and sent it back and have yet to hear back. I contacted upgrades and cancellations again regarding this and no one could find any evidence of this. Someone in cancellations found Bongani yesterday but he said his system was down and could not check, so he was supposed to call me back and has not. All sounding all too fami****.

In all honesty, the Vodacom cancellations and upgrades call centers sound like a **** show, there is so much background noise that I struggled to make out what the agents were saying on some calls. I also made probably over 10 calls now just to resolve 1 issue, which has still not been resolved. Call center ping pong is very common too, no this is the other department's responsibility comes up a lot and very often you get bounced between 2 departments. Unless this deal can get resolved I am seriously thinking about leaving for another provider.

They sent me an email to request my account details and I sent it over along with the original quote and still have not heard back from them. I have now been forced onto prepaid without quoted contract in place.

At the same time I also noticed my airtime disappearing and found that Vodacom automatically subscribed me for a R10 a day service in January, which has been draining my airtime since without me realising.

Fantastic, this is what I get for being a Vodacom subscriber for almost 20 years

Still no response. I am so disappointed that Vodacom has no email support and that we have to rely on an external service like HelloPeter to log our complaints. Telephonic support does not allow for the customer to have a log or audit trail of what was discussed during the call which leaves people in my position. They say they have recordings of the call but they are not permitted to send it to their customers since that would be too revealing.
