Cancellation Woes
Vodacom Fibre cancelled my fibre without my permission or confirmation.
I sent an email in April enquiring about how I go about cancelling my fibre and how the process works. My reason for the enquiry is I was fed up with the lack of service and communication. The fibre itself was fine but the lack of communication during downtime and what was happening was pathetic so I wanted to switch ISP's to Afrihost.
I had zero response to my email, just that a ticket was opened. So I assumed nothing came of it and I'd rather give them a call when i was back home in South Africa.
End of May rolls around and my fibre stops working, once again no email, no call, no update. I called them the next day after it was still down only to be told they had cancelled my fibre which I requested? Hey? Sorry who requested this? Upon further review by them they'd realised they'd made a mistake but they couldn't uncancel the cancellation and agreed open a new account and have the fibre working instantly. Great right?
No.... so i asked them what would happen if I had the cancel the service as we're due to move homes to which the lady informed me I'd have to pay the outstanding bills for the 12 month cycle and a cancellation fee for the router. Once again I explained I'd had the service for 5 years sp charging me to cancel my service and charging me for the router which id had 5 years at this point seems rather *********. It was escalated to someone else so which I was basically told "too bad, so sad" and please can they open a new account for me.
Im not surprised as Vodacom have a terrible reputation which is surprising for a company this large and popular. Anyways im now without internet at home (which is fine) but im just shocked that Vodacom can make a mistake and then expect me to pay for it. In the end im glad to be rid of them and I'd rather give my money to a company, like Afrihost, that actually want it.
I saw the calls; thanks for following up; however, the manner in which the issue was handled was not acceptable to me. Being told I will be liable for a cancellation of fibre after having it for 5 odd years because of Vodacoms mistake (or confirmation or follow-up from my initial cancellation email) is not acceptable to me. The point of the review was not to get Vodacom's attention to come up with a solution but rather to make other people aware of how Vodacom handles these things. I have moved to Afrihost now.
