Cancellation requests "expiring", no communication for months, and then suddenly threatened with being backlisted.

After calling numerous times to cancel my contract, and my cancellation requests not going through or somehow magically "expiring", on 02 October 2020 I received an email that my number has been converted to pre-paid.

I was also promised a refund by the call center operator because they let my cancellation request expire (how is this even possible?), but of course this never happened.

On 15 November 2020, I received an invoice that stated an outstanding Balance of R0.

I did not receive any further communication from Vodacom since then, and today I receive a final letter of demand that I have 21 days to pay an outstanding amount of R285 or I will be blacklisted?? With no explanation of where this amount came from, or what it relates to.

Absolutely shocking how they purposefully not let cancellation requests go through, and then try and **** additional payments out of you until you notice.

I demand clarification of where this new amount comes from, why I was not notified of it before, and that I am finally rid of the **** that is Vodacom and won't receive any additional charges.

Reviewer Update
After a very apologetic phone call in which the caller admitted that this was a mistake on Vodacom's behalf, I received the following message on Facebook:

As per our chat, we have removed the remaining balance which was on the account. The credit will reflect within 24 hours. Your reference number is (removed for privacy). We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

However, I have asked twice for a statement of account clearly showing a R0 balance on the account, but my emails are not being responded to.

You can imagine my mistrust of Vodacom given the situation and that a social media message is hardly proof that this has been taken care of.

Therefore, I want a written email confirmation that I do not have any balance outstanding, and that I will not be handed over to debt collectors. I also want a statement of account clearly reflecting the R0 balance emailed to me.

I have spent hours on sorting out this mess created by Vodacom, and that I am suddenly in the position of having to beg for a statement of account is unbelievable.
