Cancellation of Vodacom Contract within 7days

Dear Vodacom,

I took out a data contract (with router) last week Wednesday at Mall@Reds Vodacom Shop. I returned to the Vodacom Shop to cancel the contract due to the fact that the contract will be to expensive for my needs. According to the Manager it will be impossible to cancel the contract without a penalty fee of almost the total amount of the contract amount over 24months.

I spoke to cancellations department ( ********** ) and they advised me that I can still cancel the contract because I am still in the cooling of period. I went back to the Vodacom Shop and explained my case of the cooling of period.

The Manager still refused because the router box was opened. I can understand that I will be liable for the physical router because it was openend, but not the data contract for the full 24 months. As I understood with some research Vodacom allows a 14day cooling off period for contracts. It is also written into law.

I spoke to a consultant at new contracts ( ********** ) and he advised me that I need to cancel the contract instore. But with a non-compliant Manager that is impossible.

Please advise me what to do...

Antonie Smith

Thank you to a very helpful manager at Vodacom Shop! I was able to cancel the contract. Thanks Vodacom Shop for understanding that I have a write to cancel a signed contract within 14days. I was still liable for the physical device but not the contract. Kind Regards
