Cancellation Nightmare with Vodacom

I called Vodacom cancellations department on the 21 December 2016 to cancel my contract which was ending on 22 January 2017.

I received a SMS with a reference number (1- ********** 048971) and was informed that my contract will end on the 22nd and on the 23rd it will be moved to prepaid. They still had the audacity to want to sell me another contract.

On the 27th Jan I phoned again to the cancellations department asking them why my contract was still continuing as I have phoned before to have my contract cancelled.

The call centre agent advised me that on the 31st of Jan I must switch my phone off and then switch it back on the 1st of Feb then I will be on prepaid. Got another reference number (1- ********** 895046), 10mins after the call I found that I could not make/receive calls or send/receive SMS's. I once again tried to phone the cancellations department ( ********** ), an automated message said that my line was suspended. Call centre agent never advised me that my line would be suspended.

I then went to the Vodacom store and wanted to know what the hell is going on with my account, the sales assistant called the customer care department which a call centre agent advised me that my account was suspended because they did not receive payment for January (but it's a debit order which comes off at the end of each month). The call centre agent said that my line will not be made active until they receive payment but it's a debit order and that I will need to phone customer care to reactivate my line.

On the 31st January 2017 the debit came off my account, I then proceeded to call Vodacom customer care for them to reactivate my line, I was informed that they could not see the payment on their side and I will need to wait 3 working days or to send my bank account statement of the proof of payment to ********** and once I have emailed my bank statement to ********** I will get an automated response with a reference number from the email and I will need call customer care and give them the reference number which still to this day I have not received it. Also asked the agent why if my line was suspended and that I called in December to cancel my contract why did they gave me free minutes, data and SMS's for February, which their response was that they don't know why that happened.

On the 3rd February 2017 I phoned customer care to reactivate my line, the call centre agent proceeded to activate my line and was informed that it will take 48hrs for them to activate my line again but it took them just 10mins to suspend my line, which I call Bull S!#t. I was told that there are two types of suspension “normal” and “hard”. I was informed that my line had been “hard’ suspended, which resulted in my details to be recaptured back onto the system.

And only when my line is activate can I contact the cancelations department to cancel my contract.

I told the agent that I will not be paying for February as I called in December 2016 to cancel my contract. I’m still waiting for my line to be activated.

From the 27th January 2017 until present, my line is still suspended.

I have been with Vodacom for 16 years (Prepaid and Contract) and I have never had this bad service from Vodacom before, I will never recommended anyone to go Vodacom because of how I am being treated by them.
