Cancellation Nightmare

My 50GB data contract was signed on 5 January 2019 at R479,00 per month for 24 months. The first deduction for this contract was on 10 January 2019 for the amount of R515,20(subscription plus connection fee).

I phoned Vodacom cancellations on 2 December 2020 to cancel the contract. The customer assistant told me that I must phone on 5 January 2021 to cancel...... I accept this answer in good faith and again phoned on 5 January to cancel. Prior to this I have not received any communication from Vodacom to notify me that my contract term expires on 5 January 2021 .

I was shocked when I received my latest statement to see that they have once again debited my account for this contract, this time at R873.97(VAT Incl). I was not informed about any increase or given the opportunity to accept or decline any changes.

I feel that Vodacom is behaving ************ly and exploiting their customers during these trying times. I explained to the consultant that I no longer required this contract as I have recently upgraded and also won't pay such an exorbitant amount for data that I do not need and can get much cheaper on other options.

I am still waiting on a response from Vodacom and would appreciate any advice as to what my next step must be.
