Cancellation Issues
I use to be a loyal costumer of Vodacom. In 2021 I however cancelled my account and moved to Cell C due to costing.
At the end of 2021 It was brought to my attention that my Vodacom account is in arrears. We have been struggling for 1 year and 4 months now to resolve this issue. We have been to a VodaStore that directed us to your telephonic accounts department. The accounts department directed us to the telephonic cancellation department, the cancellation department has sent us to the ***** department. None of them was able to help me.
The contract lapsed on 2 September 2021 and to our knowledge, was telephonically cancelled.
We did a bond application and was informed by ABSA that my account is in arrears in the Experian report, therefore it reflects negatively on my credit score.
Up until now, I have not yet received any word from Vodacom to inform me that the account is in arrears or that the account is still active, I also have not received any statements and the debit order was cancelled from Vodacom's side, therefore I assumed that the account was indeed closed as all the facts pointed towards that.
Now, after numerous calls FROM MY SIDE TO VODACOM, I am informed that Vodacom assigned a ghost number to my account WITHOUT my consent or knowledge and that the account is still active and running with an arrears.
I also spoke to Maria Sangweni on 30 March 2022 at Legal who assured me that this account will be stopped and that the balance will not continue building until the matter has been resolved. Yet, the collections department contacted me and and said I have 2 months to pay the outstanding amount or I will be handed over to the lawyers. After explaining that I am unable to get hold of any one who can assist me with the account it was also confirmed that I should not even fight this, and rather just pay as Vodacom is pathetic in providing feedback to the clients.
