Cancelation of my fibre contract without my approval
Last month my fiber was disconnected due to apparent non payment. I phoned and was told that I was R300 in arears. I questioned it, as my account is always paid monthly. According to them there was an increase a couple of months ago and that was why my account was in arrears. I immediately paid the arear amount while I was on the phone with the call agent and my fibre was switched on. On the 1st of October late afternoon at around 17:30 my fibre went off again. I had already made my payment for the month on the 29th September, but before I phoned I made a double payment (the same as what I normally do) Then I phoned. I was told that my account was in credit with the amount that I had just paid, and was told that there was a fibre issue in the Pretoria area and that they are dealing with it and that we should be on shortly. When the fibre goes out, I normally get an email and a sms informing me of the problem and also when they have restored the fiber. I never received a mail or sms about this outage. It did not come on through the night. On The 2nd October the fibre was still off when I headed to work. When I got home it was still off. I phoned once again and was told that my account was cancelled and that I have to take out a new contract. I requested that they just reinstate my line, but was told it can't be done. As I needed the internet, I went through the application for an new line and was told they will further communicate through mail. After some thought I realized that I was being bul**** into taking out n new contract. I phoned Vodacom again to cancel the new contract, as this is not what I wanted. I requested that they please reactivate my connection. I was then told they can unfortunately not do it because my account has been deleted. This after speaking tho them the previous night and being told that I was in credit. I was very angry by this point and asked about the credit in my account. I was put on hold, and after about 8 minutes the agent came back and said that she can see that there is a credit balance in my "deleted" account and that I must send a mail to the refund department and request a refund. I was also informed that the vetting on my new application was denied as I was now a high risk. This after being with Vodacom for about 8 years!! This was a big shock, but there and then I knew I would never do business with Vodacom again. How can they just cancel my contract without my knowledge. You better get your ducks in a row Vodacom, as what your employees are doing is costing you your clients. I hope this reaches the correct person at Vodacom, as I can not find an email address where I could lodge a complaint. They only give their numbers, and to take to a call centre agent is useless.
