Cancel at any chance you get, new package will not happen on time, empty promises will happen
On 29 Nov I contacted vodacom cancellations department and spoke to Mandile. My failure was not sticking to my plan of cancelling and so began my still to be resolved saga. Mandile offered to change my package to pretty much what I was signed up for at less than a 3rd of the cost, which begs the question, why do we pay so much in the first place. A sim was sent out without me being informed and without checking my address so this went to an office I haven't worked at in years. First failure.
1 Dec - I spoke to Wendy from Cancellations who was going to contact the billing department to correctly bill me for the new package. I was told that the package hadn't kicked in due to sim not yet being active. She also changed my delivery address. I have subsequently been told that no activation of sim was required to activate the package. Second failure. I still do not know why this wasn't activated. Despite it being a failure on Vodacom's side I still got billed full amount for December. This is still outstanding 8 Dec I tried again on billing, this time spoke to Rendani. 9 Dec I asked Mafilo to speak to a manager - Fatima from retentions/cancellations was. She said she would call me back on the Sunday to confirm whether the invoice dispute was sorted. No call. She gave me her cell number but didnt answer calls or whatapp messages, At least she fixed the package to the correct one...only to start on 1 Jan though. 12 Dec - a call with Fatima again..and then she just disappeared, no promises followed through from her side. 15 Dec - Delene Rowles from Cancellations calculated the refund amount which she was going to come back to me on within 48 - 72 hrs...still waiting. 20 Dec - I contacted Delene again and was told I would be refunded...still waiting on that. 23 Dec - I spoke to Jade De Villiers from customer care while trying to get to speak to Delene. I thought I had eventually found someone who could help. She understood the issue, informed me about the sim never needing to be activated and instead of sending the dispute to billing again she organized for her team lead to approve the refund along with a second team lead. She also said she would call on Tuesday 27th. No call. No refund. The original amount for the old package has gone off my account. I don't even know if I'm actually on the package I have been told I've been moved to as I know longer know what to believe from Vodacom. 3 calls from me on the 3rd and 1 on the 5th attempting to get hold of Jade. She was sent emails by the folks I spoke to (Luvo, Peliswa, Lutando, Shaeema, Sewile). I have a theory after all these calls, I think it's a game of stall the customer and tell them what they want to hear, promise stuff and do nothing. What else could it be? Will I ever get my refund. I should have cancelled the day I called in to cancel. I have a reord of 13 different people from Vodacom that I have spoken to and have been promised twice that a refund would not be a problem and would be sorted and yet there is no sign of this

I was contacted on Saturday (14 Jan) by Veroshnie Govender (floor line manager).
She has given me the old story about the sim needing to be active, see initial complaint on Hello Peter. I guess she didn't read that.
Credit amount this time was quoted by her as R178 which is the third different amount I have been quoted.
She confirmed that she would call me on Sunday - no call.
She confirmed that she will send confirming email on Saturday- non received.

Nothing has been resolved. Where to next?
