Call Centre Agent input the wrong number and now someone has my airtime

On the 22nd of June I app**** for a contract over the phone to use my current prepaid number as the contract number. However after almost a week of calling in to find out when my activation will take place i discovered that the lady who did my application entered in an incorrect number. So someone out there is getting my airtime loaded on their sim card and using something I am meant to pay for.

When Vodacom found this out they gave to pathetic options: 1. Do a sim swap and use a number that is foreign to all my contacts, family and friends 2. Cancel the contract, return the device (which I have already put a R350 silicon screen protector on) and then re-apply.

I fail to understand why they cannot cancel the incorrect contract they did and do another application without returning the device because I have used it and, as stated above, already added an expensive silicon screen protector. How can it be that i must be inconvenienced by an error they caused by adding an incorrect number.

Having been a customer on Vodacom for over 15 years with the same number how can they just say i must lose my number. My whole family are on Vodacom contracts because I have convinced them to use it. Is this the way you treat long time clients?

I find it totaly unacceptable that they are not willing to help me fix a problem they caused, they have recording of the calls and if they make that available i can prove i gave the correct number.

Regards, A Very Unhappy Customer
