********* business practices

********* business practices. Vodacom was recently (Dec 2023) fined R1 million for charging customers exorbitant cancellation “penalties”. It’s March 2024 and they’re still charging 75% penalties for the remainder of the contract period. I wish to cancel my SIM only contract simply because I don’t use it at all (Something the agent admitted as well). Considering I owe <R100 on the device and they want to charge me R1400 for services not rendered, I hardly think this is reasonable - even considering the 9 months remaining on the contract. I’d love you guys to correct the situation without having to register a complaint with the NCC. Also don’t be ridiculous regarding penalties if there’s hardly any hardware fees - people will be wary of signing contracts with you. Respect the law Vodacom, and maybe your customers as well?

Good day. I’ve been “advised accordingly” via telephone on the 9th as you’ve mentioned, with no reference number or confirmation of escalating the complaint. Please confirm the case is still open and advise on when a timeous response to this 75% penalty will be addressed. Thanks
