Broken Samsung S7 Edge Out the Box!!!! "New Contract"

On 1 July 2017 upgraded to new contract and Handset ( Samsung S7 Edge Gold) Tygervalley Branch. Went on holiday from Cape Town to Mossel Bay and only switched phone on for fist time on Tuesday 4 July 2017 and phone froze, restarted constantly. This happened while travelling to our holiday destination in the mountains. Our accomodation could only be reached by 4x4 in a area which has no network coverage. On the Thursday we had to drive up the mountain for network coverage to inform Vodacom that the handset is faulty and that we cannot reach a vodacom shop within the remaining time frame of 7 days.

The consultant was not very helpfull and informed us that it is not his problem. We clearly stated that it is impossible for us to reach a vodacom shop due to our destination and that we will be returning it as soon as possible. ( The following week when we are back in Cape Town).

We did hand in the handset on the 12 July 2017. We spoke to the Assistant Manager which took the handset. She then requested proof of our holiday accomodation. All this information including handset was sent away for evaluation. Replacement was declined. We have been informed that the handset will go in for repairs.

As a consumer I find this unacceptable for a brand new phone out of the box. I am liable to pay my contract every month on time which we have done for the last 10 years. To hand me a faulty phone out of the box on a new contact is not accpetable. For a new phone to go in for repairs on a new contract is not fair after informing them in the 7 days that the phone is faulty.

Im a very unhappy customer and expect answers for this.

Good Day

I still had no one call me regarding the phone. I want feedback asap, The phone is in for repairs apparently. Its not acceptable for a new phone to go in for repairs. Vodacom has to meet me half way on this. I have done everything I can from the start. All that has been said is that we did not go the vodacom shop within the 7 days. We could not, and we went out of our way to inform them that we cannot return the handset as we are in the mountains and there is no vodacom shop nearby. Surely from our side we did the right thing to notify them. I think is highly unfair that the consultant informed us that its not his problem. Cant expect a customer to stay home for 7 days and see if the phone is faulty. Samsung declined the replacement. Now my brand new phone is in for repairs out of no fault of my own. The consumer must just accept that. Its not right. I still pay for a service and have so for a long time.

Still no feedback and only sms's to inform that the phone is in for repairs. We have stated that we are well in our rights to request a new phone under the Consumers Protection Act. Informed us no promises. I'm still stuck with a loan phone that can only be used for sms and calls. This does not fulfill my every day needs regarding a phone.
