Breach of contract + Poor service!!
Good day , my phone number stopped working about 2 weeks ago. I then called into customer care where they advised me that my sim card is faulty. I then went to my nearest Vodacom dealer and to my surprise, I was told that my number is not on prepaid but had been moved to prepaid and that my contract has been paid up. This was done without my consent. I was then instructed to call the accounts department to get to the bottom of the matter. So i called in and then I was directed to retentions which then said they are forwarding the matter to back office and that they will get back to me in 7 days.It has now been 10 days! My number is still off.I also never received any airtime or any sms's for this month and I paid my contract and insurance in one bill.So as far as i can see is that this is a breach of contract from Vodacom side and that i have been a victim of an error. An error by one or several parties. These mistakes were surely made by Vodacom employees. For these two weeks, i have been unable to do any work related queries. Queries which I can only complete with my vodacom number.I was unable to do this and several other transactions because my number was offline. This is totally ridiculous and unacceptable. As a paying customer, I expect to at least get a matter like this to get resolved but it hasnt. According to Section 14(2)(c) of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), service providers need to provide you with 40–80 business days’ written notice or “any other recordable form” of the fact that your cell phone contract is coming to an end, thereby giving you the opportunity to cancel the contract on time. In this instance, there has been no communication to me that my contract will be canceled.I would like to find out who authorized this and who paid up my contract and when i can get a new contract, please. The current one is clearly breached by you .
