Breach of contract from Vodacom
Good day,
I have been a loyal Vodacom client for over 12 years and have never had any issues with regards to keeping up with my payments. Over the past year I was hospitalised and my business took a knock and for the first time I fell behind and its taken a long time to get back on my feet. Being fully aware that I was in arrears and maintaining communication with Vodacom, I explained my situation and paid as regularly as possible. During this time Vodacom, understandably put a soft lock on my phone and I was unable to make outgoing calls while still able to receive calls. During this time I have been able to gain momentum with my business again and as I explained will be able to make more substantial payments in order to rectify the arrears on my account. After receiving communication a couple months ago that my phone was at risk of being hard-locked I phoned Vodacom and once again explained my situation saying that I’d be making regular payments each month until I was up to date and it was agreed upon that my phone would remain on soft lock until I was caught up. The consultant actually advised that when 50% of the outstanding amount was paid they would reinstate my phone. There was never any mention or communication to me that my number would be very unexpectedly and suddenly deleted completely!! I have made regular payments, the last being a couple days ago, it is plain and clear that an effort is being made to pay off what I owe and I find being cut off completely without warning ridiculous, especially when my company and income relies so heavily on my phone. I don’t see how Vodacom can make an agreement with me and then it’s totally nullified by this course of action. I’m now cut off from all potential income without warning and the message I get every time I talk to someone is a very un-sympathetic “Sorry we cant help you’. So the truth of the matter is after being a customer for 12 years and you hit a bit of a rough patch and make a measurable effort to rectify it, get given the impression that your efforts are sufficient, you basically get the finger! Can you please explain to me why, instead of tossing my number and a loyal customer aside, cutting them off from their source of income without an inch giving a hoot, you couldn’t have put me on pay as you go while I continued to pay my account each and every month as I was doing, or at least keep me on soft lock while I did so. Can you justify deleting my number completely while I was paying off the arrears each month!?? And without a courtesy warning!!?? How the heck do you expect me to now pay what I owe you when I cannot run my business!! This is pathetic!! and a total breach of contract on Vodacoms side!
