Blacklisted for R1

I would like to express my disgust at Vodacom. I had a contract with them for 14 years. Paying by debit order every month without a single missed or late payment. I then decided that due to the lack of service (tried to upgrade online to no avail) and cost, I would move to another Service provider. I cancelled my contract. Got my bill for the waiting month that was subtracted by debit order. Following month got another bill for R1. Not thinking of it further, as Vodacom goes off by debit order. I subsequently did not receive any further notifications or bills stating that money was still outstanding.

I tried to apply for credit this month, to be told that I have been blacklisted and I have not been paying my bills on time. I pulled my credit record to determine where the possible issue is as all bills are paid long before the end of the month that it is due, and discovered that Vodacom was still reflecting on my name. I contacted Vodocam, and was informed that there was R1 that I did not pay. How is this possible as Vodacom have always used a debit order, and why did I not receive any further notification that there is still money outstanding?

I immediately paid the R1 outstanding by EFT (was confirmed by Vodacom agent – George), but my credit record still has not been cleared. Vodacom still displays as not payed.

I view this as ridiculous, being blacklisted for R1. Not being informed that I have money outstanding, or that I will be blocked if it isn’t paid. This not even being my fault as Vodacom has always used a debit order. Absolutely shocking!
