Black Friday deal call back
I went online Friday to purchase the Nokia 8 black Friday special, which had stock, and was 'available' to purchase. I clicked on 'Buy', and was asked for two options: New sim, or Porting (or similar wording).
Like 99% of people applying at Vodacom, I already have a simcard, so selected the appropriate option. The message that followed said for that selection, that someone would need to call me back (within 24 hours).
Nowhere during this process was I warned that that would obviously be after the end of the special I just clicked I want to 'buy', so of course I assumed my action has already 'booked' me the special, and that the admin would be handled by a call later.
It is now the following Wednesday, and I am yet to receive a call - pathetic in its own right. I have also tried on at least 5 occasions to call the number indicated on a confirmation email (which had a ref number 0YNF9G), but after holding on for more than 15min each time, I had to end the calls.
A colleague had more patience than myself, and stayed on line one evening for more than 25min, until finally he was put through. He was informed (and I assume if one day I would get through on the wonderfully effective call center) that the deal was over, and that the 'call back' reference did not 'book' the deal for you in any way.
I find this totally unacceptable. Vodacom advertise a worthwhile black friday deal, and in all honesty it is not possible to obtain this if you are not applying for a new sim also. Nowhere was I informed that my selection in fact meant that I would not be able to get the deal I just clicked I wanted, which in my opinion is false advertising. Why put that option there if it is not achievable?
If this is the way Vodacom operates, I am probably better off staying at my current provider!
