Billing & Accounts
On 21 April 2017 I took up a 24-months contract with Vodacom through Like Minds (Online)(VODDIR)-VDLKO and receive the 1st quotation (1- ********** ********** ) with the following package: Samsung Galaxy S8 64GB Maple Gold + S8 accessory pack + Top dog voucher R649PM (R380 Finance + R269 Sub) on Smart S+ with monthly charges of R268.99 (Smart S + Line Rental), activation charges of R105.00 and Connection fee of R97.00 which amounts to R202.00 and another 2nd quotation (1- ********** ********** ) dated 21 April 2017 as well with the same package as above but charged for monthly charges (Smart S + Line Rental) amounting to R268.99, Handset Installment amounting to R380.00 with zero (0) amount for Activation charges (Connection fee). Please note I completed the application on line and after a month went by without receiving any response from the online application I made, I started calling Customer Service Centre seeking advise on the status of my application. The consultant could not find my profile in the system and advise that she will process a new application, please take note that the consultant did not advise that this is an OPEN Bill account and I was told that it comes with a SMART S+ package of receiving 200 TalkTime, 200 SMSes and 500MB monthly (of which I was receiving every month and thereafter have to wait for another month to kick in to get the next package) . In May 2017 I received the delivery with a different order number 1- ********** ********** +1 with no amount due. In June I receive an invoice (H0-3ZHDA) with charges of Once off connection fee (R85.09) and 500MB (R86.84), the subscription charges of SMART S + Line Rental (R213.13), VAS Caller Identity Subscription (R5.11), Handset Installment in June amounting to R333.33 and SMART S + Line Rental (R235.96) as well as VAS Caller Identity Subscription of R8.33 and the total amount of the bill amounted to R1103.28 plus VAT. Thereafter, for July 2017 invoice (HO-4AW6A) I was charged for subscription charges only i.e. Handset Installment (R333.33), SMART S + Line Rental (235.96) and VAS Caller Identity subscription of R8.33 and that amounted to a total of R658.49 plus VAT. In August I received the next invoice (HO-4MG1S) with the same subscriptions charges as in July 2017 but now additional charges of Data Services (Content Services) amounting to R416.54 were brought forward. When went to Canal Walk to query these content services (MobiTeacher) I was told I have subscribed them and that they cost R10 daily. I have never subscribed or gave the consent of such services and when I receive rewards or information or adverts from my phone I just read those messages and delete them and never accepted. After they were cancelled I decided to respond to Vodacom's offers with a "stop-out" option avoiding to find myself at risk of losing money with services I have not rendered with Vodacom. Now, in September 2017 I received the invoice (Ho-58DY7) with subscription charges of R577.62 as in July and August 2017 but now have additional charges of Calls Local amounting to R349.86 and Calls Data Services (Content services & USSD) amounting to R166.36 and that amounted to R1246.98. I once again went to Vodacom to query this September invoice and I was told this is an OPEN Bill. The consultant who assisted me advised that we changed it to a TOP Up contract so that I can be able to buy airtime and data on my own when theirs has expired. Therefore, I fail to understand such discrepancies of charges, the service contents I did not subscribe and being billed for an OPEN Bill account in this month of September whereas in the other months it was not. As I said in the beginning there were 2 different quotations and then all of a sudden Vodacom decided to bill me on an OPEN Bill account. I have left MTN thinking that Vodacom provides better service but I have brought myself more misery.
