BILLED BEFORE CONNECTION
I app**** for home fibre in July because my previous contract with another service provider was to expire in August. I was informed that their processes take long so I planned accordingly, because I did not want to be without connection or have to pay two service providers. I was also offered free interim WiFi while I waited for my fibre connection. I understood that the free WiFi would be free for one calendar month and I was fine with that, calculating that since it was already July and I would be connected in August. I very impressed with the sales portion of the transaction.
I then request for connection at the beginning of August because I thought it would be a while before I got connected. Contractors came to wire my house for fibre and they told me that Vodacom would complete the installation process. A day later I get a text saying that my order was complete which was not because I still was not connected to the fibre. Then I called the call centre where I was told that my issue would be resolved in 72 hours. Now that was a long turn around time but at least I knew how long I had to wait.
I then received a bill for my free interim WiFi. So now I had two problems and I was not even on their network yet! I tried to raise a query through email but it just went in a constant loop, asking me to confirm my details. With each day I was getting more and more agitated. I eventually resolved to contact the guy who first contacted to assist getting my issues resolved. He was very helpful but I could tell that he had limitations. I asked about the free WiFi he had offered me and he said that it was definitely free for a calendar after which, I would have to top up. So I figured that he would sort that out as well and they would not pull from my account for a free service. He told me that he had been informed that I was already connected to the fibre. I told him that that was not the case. I was then called by someone very abrupt who said he wanted to connect me remotely. He gave me instructions of what wire to connect where and then asked me to send him details of my router and fibre box via WhatsApp and he would send a request for activation. Clearly they had missed this step, so how they thought that I was connected, only heaven knows. I had to discover on my own that I had been connected to the fibre as well as learn how to connect to it. I figured, my problems were over. Then I contacted the sales guy who had helped me and told him that I had been connected. His response was that he was happy with the feedback. So after all of this negligence this is his response?
No apology ever came from Vodacom! If I had not been so angry, I would have laughed! This is how they do business I guess. Then today I get debited for the interim WiFi! I am livid! SO WHAT NOW? ALL OF THIS IS NOT WORTH ALL OF THIS TROUBLE! VODACOM IS NOT THE ONLY SERVICE PROVIDER! I HAVE HAD IT!
I am disappointed! I am still being billed for the interim LTE. I am also being billed for my fibre, which was activated on 26 August, from 6 August. My bill is over R1800. When I had budgeted for just under R600. What is going on? You will call me!
