Biggest mistake leaving Telkom for Vodacom home fibre!
Biggest mistake leaving Telkom for Vodacom home fibre!
I had my uncapped 10mb line through telkom for many years and never had any issues.
I was approached by a vodacom consultant at the house and garden show at the Durban exhibition Centre, regarding a special which they were offering. The lady had asked me what package I was on at the time, to which I explained along with the monthly subs of R799.
She told me that they could give me the same deal at R650. I explained that I also got free landline calls after 7pm.. and she said they would also send me a “voip” phone or something like that and it would work if my uncapped data...
She also said that they would handle the cancellation with telkom and pay any early cancellation fees. And that we will not not experience any downtime during the switchover to vodacom. Everything made sense and I decided to go ahead with the offer. (Worse mistake Ever ! Nearly 2 months had passed and we then received a delivery from vodacom
A few days later i had received a call from the technician advising me that they needed to come across to. Get it setup. He came through and got everything connected. Unfortunately no interne! He called vodacom and passed the phone to my husband. The gentleman on the other side of the line had said that he can’t figure it out as “packets” we’re not being received or something like that... He said that he would log the fault with the technicians and it would take up to 7 working days. My husband Expalined that we couldn’t get by without the internet connection as he used it for accessing his email for work.
He also told me that I am going to lose landline as it isn’t part of the package.
I Told him I would rather just cancel and he said it’s too late as the technician had just connected the fibre router, to therefore it was active, nonetheless I decided to give them a chance as people always talk about vodacom and that you don’t have isssues. Upon calling customer complaints, I was informed that they would be sending this voip phone as well as them cancelling everything with Telkom. A few days later I was informed by vodacom that I would need to pay around R1500 for the voip phone!!!!
Eversince moving across I only get around 6 to 8 MB’s per second... telkom was constantly between 8 to 9mbs .
I don’t have my landline calls anymore and what’s even more scarey is that telkom is still charging me, just seen my banking message and got debited twice today for my monthly subs by telkom... can only only assume one of them was for a cancellation fee? and I’m sure the vodacom subs is also going to go off in a few days time.....
What has happened to Vodacom? Once the network of choice which people were willing to pay more for and get world class service?????
Please vodacom, you have misled me and I also have the call recording where the consultant explained that the voip phone would be sent out shortly as agreed.....just let me out of this fibre contract so that I can go back to Telkom fibre....
Next stop will be Facebook to warn others not to get fooled like how I was by your consultant! I will also upload screen dumps of the line speed so that people know it isn’t even close to 10mbs. And more like 5 to 7!
