Beyond Economic Repair – What the hell…?

I have a contract with Vodacom for many years. It was renewed last year and a Sony Experia taken out. The phone is not even 1 year old and I have experienced numerous problems. The main issue now which i took it in for was that it was not charging.I took it to Vodacom last week and received it back today, being told that it will not and cannot be fixed with the reason "Beyond Economic Repair". What the hell does this mean!!! And i get told that I must continue to pay for the contract with a phone that now doesnt work. I gave the phone in for repairs in working condition, however the battery was dead due to not being able to charge it. Now I get a broken phone back and told that it will not be fixed nor replaced. This is utter nonsense and I expect a new phone! I will take Vodacom up legally if this issue is not resolved! No wonder why customer choose to take their contracts to other service providers - maybe I should do the same!
