BEWARE OF VODACOM DATA PROMOTIONS THROUGH RED DATA / HOTSPOTTER
On 22 Nov 2017 Red Data phoned me with a Vodacom promotion for 5 GIG for R149/month. The lady from the Call Centre (with a difficult accent to understand) said to me that it is not a contract but you can cancel whenever one pleases. I was very wary to give her my banking details re all the ****s. I ask her to phone me back in 10 minutes. I phoned the local Vodashop and they confirmed that Red Data is doing promotions for Vodacom. A gentlemen from Red Data phoned me back and confirmed that it is indeed a promotion for Vodacom. He handed me back to the original lady with the very difficult accent to understand. She started talking like a steam train with all the T & C's. I told her several times slow down or email me the deal. Which she declined as they do not work that way. Only email afterwards. I told her several times that I cannot hear what she is saying as she was like a steam train on steroids. In the end I supp**** her with my credit card details as it sounded like a good deal. Immediately afterwards I wend onto Red Data website and called their support centre at ***. I asked them about the deal. The call centre told me that it is only 500meg that is anyplace anytime data, the 4,5 Gig is only for hotspot areas!!! This was definitely not what I have signed up for. It might have been between those T&C's that were steam trained! I told the lady at the call centre to listen to the recorded phone call as I asked several times that I cannot hear what she is saying and to slow down. I immediately send them an email to cancel explaining my reasons. I received an email the same day firstly from Hotspotter to welcome me!! I emailed again and then eventually received and email the next day that it has been cancelled and the matter resolved. Yesterday at 15h10 I received a phone call from an arrogant s@#$ to say that he is doing the activation of this promotion. I told him my story and he had the audacity to tell me to listen what was offered!!! Secondly he told me that they would never have done the promotion for me as it was intended for my husband (as they have his details). He said that I can be glad that I spoke to him otherwise it would have been activated! To my utter dismay I saw last night that they have actually deducted the R89!!! I have send several emails today to Red Data/HotSpotter. Hotspotter referrred me to Red Data. I phoned their support line from 16h30 - 16h55 (business hours on Friday until 17h30). They just pick up the line and put the phone down. I am going to report them as far as I can as this must be ********** as it is false and misleading information.
