Beware of Vodacom Contract
I took a 24 months data line with Vodacom and it was extended for a further 6 months. I was told at the beginning of the contract that I could ask for early cancellation but I would pay for an extra one month as penalty for early cancellation. In March 2024; I paid my March bill and I formally in writing requested for an early cancellation. I got an invoice on 19th March for full settlement of the account which included the payment for the 1 month of April as penalty. In May 2024, Vodacom charged my account for May even though my cancelation request was from 30th March 2024, and I had paid all the amount on the quotation I received from Vodacom. I asked my bank to reverse the payment as I did not authorise the payment. Since then, I've been receiving mails from HP Attorneys asking for money. I explained what happened but obviously, they are just debt collectors, they have no capacity to engage with Vodacom customers except to collect money. Please, beware of your contract with Vodacom. Initially, you may think they have given you a great deal but you won't be able to get out of that contract when it expires. They will continue to charge your account until there's no more money in there. The customer service does not offer any assistance. It is very disappointing that Vodacom does not treat its customers well. I had a 30 month contract with them and I did not miss any payment but obviously, loyalty means nothing to them, it seems!
