Beware of the Vodacom **** by Vodacom

So Vodacom is trying its utmost best to get clients to rather use the online app than go to the store. Lots of incentives etc. One of the functions of the app is the ability to check if you qualify for an UPGRADE. Short story, I qualify, viewed the quote, and decided to upgrade. At this point, I was quite impressed with the smooth process. Approximately 3 days later my new phone arrived. I am even more amazed at the speed of things, not realizing it is all part of the ****. Approximately 1 week later I received a quote through the mail, informing me that I have to sign for my new handset as well as the cost for the remaining 4 months of my old handset. So I tried the call center and the complaints department and received the following answers. (Believe it or not, it is recorded) 1. It is my duty to check if there is time left on my old contract. (Even though the upgrade was approved) 2. The app does not take into account any info about my old account. 3. I should have gone into a store to ensure I understand my upgrade. (I have been upgrading since 1994, so I trust I understand what an upgrade means) 4. Although they still call it an upgrade, it has nothing to do with my old contract. 5. So I told them they gave me I new contract, which they denied. 6. So I asked them what should I do with two handsets, and also why I would take out a contract for a 2nd phone. I was told many people use two phones, I should too. So I asked them how do I activate the old phone since I only have one number (tongue in cheek) 7. They tell me to take out a new sim card, refusing to admit that I have not been upgraded but sold a 2nd contract.

So through a so-called "faulty" app, I now have two phones, paying for both and they are just ignoring me.

I know this will not help because Vodacom customer care is the worst of all industries across the world, and they simply do not care about it either. But, just maybe I can help other people to avoid the big Vodacom ****. PS: The irony of the case is that in their reply they refer me back to the app for a better self-service experience. How pathetic.
