Beware of Fruadulent Charges on Vodacom Invoice: Content Services

Every Vodacom customer should check their invoice for charges called "Content Services"!!! I signed up for a Vodacom Smart S contract and a month ago i was charged an extra R200 on my invoice for Content Services. When i querried this with Vodacom call center, i was told that its something that you automatically get subscribed to when clicking links online... Automatically subscribed to? With no prior notification? With no request for authrisation on your part?... Ok, this would then imply that you are at a lower risk of being charged for Content Services if you have no contract number! This month... after querrying the charge and requesting that Vodacom STOP that charge from being invoiced on my account... i find that my invoice is now reflecting and additional R320 for "Content Services". Please also note that you will never be refunded for the amounts that you are charged for CONTENT SERVICES.

At the rate that the amount on my invoice is increasing for CONTENT SERVICES and since i am not keen on waiting until i recieve some exobitant invoice which will probably reach thousands of rands in the months to come for "CONTENT SERVICES", i have chosen to cancel my contract with Vodacom.

I discourage all people from signing up a contract with Vodacom and will look for every opportunity to spread the word accordingly. People need to be made aware of this.

Good bye Vodacom.... After giving you my loyalty for 11years.

Reviewer Update

I have been doing further research on Vodacoms CONTENT SERVICES/WASP while on a drive to inform the public about Vodacoms dishonest practices and i have further infomation which may also influence your decision before you choose to sign up a Vodacom contract (or even chose the network as a service provider):

On the website: www.vodacombusiness.co.za

You will note that Vodacom is marketing WASP to businesses and companies. Scroll further down the page and you will note that Vodacom offers companies a connection fee of R9500 and a monthly acess fee of R1504.80

Now it is my understanding that Vodacom offers WASP to companies to market their products (mobile content, songs, ringtones etc..) using their network as a platform to target their most loyal customers with content that they did not sign up for at charges that they did not agree to! So we have now established that Vodacom offers their network to use WASP and be charged to their customers.

And then, Vodacom proceeds to bill it to your invoice without your permission to the point where you are now forced to enter into a premature termination of your contract at a price that ends up being cheaper than if you remain on the contract and continue to pay the CONTENT SERVICES that they will never refund your money back for.

Further to this, when you query, you are told that Vodacom is NOT responsible for the CONTENT SERVICES charges and that you need to take it up with the WASP provider.... but hello, Vodacom is selling WASP to companies to use their network and target their customers and the they deflect all blame or responsibility???
