Being billed for a contract I no longer have

This email is to express the harassment and threats I have been receiving from Vodacom, even to a point where they handed me to Hammond Pole Attorneys, such an embarrassment at my age! To think I have been a loyal customer ever since I had my first phone at 2007.

On the 9th of Jan 2018 I called Vodacom and made a request for a Router, the contract was going to be for R129 for 24 months. The lady that was assisting me asked me if I want a new number and I said no, she did not mention that by saying no they will make my number a contract number, which means I won’t be able to receive calls on the sim card anymore because it will be on the router.

On the 11th of Jan 2018 RAM delivered the router to me and data was loaded later that day, only to realise that there was no SIM card. I then contacted Vodacom customer care around 5pm and I was advised that I must call the following morning as the contract department has knocked off. The following morning on 12th of Jan 2018 I called Vodacom again and was transferred to the relevant department. I explained that I received a router but there is no SIM card, I was told that they made my number a contract number. I asked if it’s possible that they edit that and give me a new number and was told ‘No they cannot edit a contract once it has been issued, I must cancel the current contract and open a new one to get a new number”. I agreed that they must cancel the contract and collect the device for me to be able to open a new contract as I really needed this router.

On the 12th Jan 2018, my number was then already diverted to contract and all the calls I was receiving where Unknown and they told it’s because I have no caller identity. For me to see who is calling me, I had to divert all my 079 calls to my other number, imagine the struggle ☹.

On the 15th of Jan, RAM came back to collect the Router back to Vodacom. I called Vodacom after 3 days and they agreed that they did receive back the router. They then started with the contract cancellation. By then all the calls I was receiving were still unknown. On the 13th of Feb 2018, I received an SMS that I have been diverted back to prepaid, which means for almost a month all my calls were Unknown ☹.

I had agreed with Vodacom that they can debit me on the last day of each month, on end of Feb they tried to debit me without any luck and when I called I was told that I owe Vodacom an amount over R200 for something that I did not even use. I did not use the data or the router.

To my understanding, Vodacom must have a 7 days policy, I didn’t have the device on me for even more than 4 working days, the fact that Vodacom is charging me for the router and data that I did not use is ridiculous! I have been a loyal customer for so many years and this is the treatment I get?!? Shame on you!

Now I’m being harassed by attorneys that tell me they charge R22 everytime they call me, who told them to? Who is gonna pay them? Who asked all the agents at Hammond Pole to all call me in one day and charge me R22? I refuse to pay anything I didn’t agree to.

Please sort this out as I do not owe you guys!
